Pictures in the Mind

I have been practising using words which show my readers pictures in their minds.
Last month we had athletics day at school.
First we did vortex. I was the 1st to get my name written in a book so that’s the order that we were in. There was a girl and a boy line. There were two very light nerf vortexes, 33cm long. They looked like rugby balls. One had a black and green tail and one had a black and orange tail on the end  which looked like the bottom of a rocket. I picked up the vortex and threw it. It shot like a bullet down the big grassy track. If we hit Mr.K, we would get a chocolate but we always missed him. The boys kept getting the green vortex and the girls got the orange.
Well done, Joshua. I get good pictures in my mind when I read about Athletics Day. You have shown me what the vortex looked like and how it shot down the big track.

Our Sports Day

Yesterday, our whole school had sports day at school.
First, we ran to the court and did our chants. It was a very cold day so everyone was wearing sweaters. St.Anne did their chant first.
Next, we walked to high jump. It was easy to begin with but, as the pole got higher, it got harder and harder and harder! The mat was as high as a desk and as long  as 3 desks. First we jumped without the pole and then we jumped higher and higher and higher! I kept getting my foot stuck in the hole and face planting on the grass.
Next, we walked as slowly as a snail to long jump. When we got there, Mrs Ashton took our names and began long jump! Paige was the leader of the girl’s line and I was the leader of the boy’s line. When Paige had her first jump, she landed face first on the sand and I landed on my feet.
Finally, we did the sprints and the relays. The five year olds went first and the thirteen year olds went last. Amaya came first for the five year olds and Sarah came first for the thirteen year olds, then we did our end of the day prayer and went home.
I thought that I would lose at everything, but I felt encouraged because I didn’t lose at everything.

My Coat Of Arms

Many many years ago there was a war between Scotland and England.Robert Bruce was there leader. One day he died. The solders was sad they didn't have enough courage to fight any more so they took Robert Bruce and cut out his heart. They went to the front line and said."This is our leader".That is how I got my surname Lockhart.
