Rock This Party

Today, Room 3 and Room 4 went to the hall to learn some cool new dance moves.  Our instructor's name was Kate. She knew all these cool new dance moves that we could learn. I thought that it was pretty good and I wanted to do it again.

Pictures in the Mind

I have been practising using words which show my readers pictures in their minds.
Last month we had athletics day at school.
First we did vortex. I was the 1st to get my name written in a book so that’s the order that we were in. There was a girl and a boy line. There were two very light nerf vortexes, 33cm long. They looked like rugby balls. One had a black and green tail and one had a black and orange tail on the end  which looked like the bottom of a rocket. I picked up the vortex and threw it. It shot like a bullet down the big grassy track. If we hit Mr.K, we would get a chocolate but we always missed him. The boys kept getting the green vortex and the girls got the orange.
Well done, Joshua. I get good pictures in my mind when I read about Athletics Day. You have shown me what the vortex looked like and how it shot down the big track.

Our Sports Day

Yesterday, our whole school had sports day at school.
First, we ran to the court and did our chants. It was a very cold day so everyone was wearing sweaters. St.Anne did their chant first.
Next, we walked to high jump. It was easy to begin with but, as the pole got higher, it got harder and harder and harder! The mat was as high as a desk and as long  as 3 desks. First we jumped without the pole and then we jumped higher and higher and higher! I kept getting my foot stuck in the hole and face planting on the grass.
Next, we walked as slowly as a snail to long jump. When we got there, Mrs Ashton took our names and began long jump! Paige was the leader of the girl’s line and I was the leader of the boy’s line. When Paige had her first jump, she landed face first on the sand and I landed on my feet.
Finally, we did the sprints and the relays. The five year olds went first and the thirteen year olds went last. Amaya came first for the five year olds and Sarah came first for the thirteen year olds, then we did our end of the day prayer and went home.
I thought that I would lose at everything, but I felt encouraged because I didn’t lose at everything.

My Coat Of Arms

Many many years ago there was a war between Scotland and England.Robert Bruce was there leader. One day he died. The solders was sad they didn't have enough courage to fight any more so they took Robert Bruce and cut out his heart. They went to the front line and said."This is our leader".That is how I got my surname Lockhart.

My Dad is the Best

Do you want to hear about the best dad in the world?  What my dad looks like: He has grey hair.  He sometimes wears glasses.  My dad’s skin colour is a brownish colour.
What my dad does:  Dad/Bill works at the WSS (which stands for Waikato Security Systems).
He’s interested in Trigger Happy Skylander.  He’s brave.  He took me fishing in the river but we didn’t catch anything.

Breakfast

I found out that too much sugar is bad. Tomorrow, I will not eat something that has too much sugar and fat. All next week, we will bring healthy cereals. I am going to bring weetbix with banana and strawberries to the hall. WeetBix and porridge are the best cereals you can get because they have not much sugar and not much fat and they have heaps of fibre. To make Ricies and Cornflakes have fibre, you add fruit. To make spaghetti have fibre, you add wholemeal bread or toast.  When you go shopping, you should look at the labels. These foods are not good for you - lollies, chocolate, Cocopops, coke, pies, Cookie Times, chips, Nutrigrain, toasted muesli, Honey Puffs, Cocosnaps and Great Start Berry Cereal.

The Elgrego Show.

Yesterday Elgrego came to our school and performed a magic show.

When we were ready, Elgrego began his magic by making a bird appear and disappear. Elgrego made three birds into a BIG New Zealand rabbit and, to make it work, he said, "It better work. It better work," then he made some birds appear from a fiery hat!

Next, Elgrego performed a magic trick with fizzy raspberry drink in an upside box. First, he poured the fizzy drink into a plastic cup then he put it into the box. He turned it sideways, up and down, left and right, and then Elgrego opened the box and it was fine. Nothing spilt. We were all amazed.

After the drink trick, we watched Elgrego talk with SeeMore, the baby green dinosaur about bullies. He was sad because people were teasing him about being green. Elgrego put on The Rainbow Song off The Muppets Movie and he felt better and Elgrego was being a ventriloquist. A ventriloquist is a person who talks for the puppet.

Finally, Elgrego did the trick of walking through the brick wall. He went to the back of the brick wall. There was a hole in the brick wall. When we were ready, Elgrego got a cloth and began his magic. He got the cloth and he was waving it all over the place until he popped out. Amazing.

It was so much fun watching it. I wish I could see it again. It was such a great show. It is a good thing Elgrego is coming back next year or in two years.

Zero Waste.

It is important to reuse, recycle, reduce and compost so that we don't keep adding to the landfill. Every month, NZ makes a rugby field long  and 30 classrooms high of rubbish. We can reuse our old things that we don't need any more to make something else useful such as a can phone like in the picture. You would need two cans and a piece of string.

McDonalds

Last night, I went to McDonald's with Mum and Charlotte. At McDonald's, I got the new burger, the McSpicy. I sat by a window and I was screaming my head off because it was so hot with chillies                                                                                                                           and then I told Mum, "I can't finish this. It's too hot," then Mum said, "I knew  it," so I got a Big Mac.

A Fishy Tale

One day I caught a Great White Shark.
It got on the boat and bit me.  Ahhhh!!  It bit my hip off!
I had to go to hospital and I did not get out until four weeks. They had to put stitches in.  OWWW!

Holy Week

On Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey that had never been ridden before. When he got to Jerusalem, the people laid their cloaks on the ground and shouted Hosanna to the king!!!
Next, he had a feast with his friends and sent his disciples to a man carnying a jar of water. "Follow him and he will take you to a house. The teacher wants you to prepare the feast," so the disciples went to prepare the feast. On Holy Thursday, Jesus said, "Take this all of you and eat this. This is my  Body which will be given up for you." When supper was ended, Jesus took the cup and said, "Take this all of you and drink it. This is my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant.
On Good Friday, Jesus died on the cross and he fell over three times .and on Easter Sunday, Jesus rose again.        .

The Meaning of Skylanders

Last year, I completed Skylanders and the Giants game. It was hard but I completed it.
Kaos is the main bad guy of the game.  Kaos is always trying to take over Skyland and spread darkness.  Chompy Mage is BAD, BAD, BAD! He always summons all of the Chompies (exploding ones and normal ones with sharp teeth).  Kaos’s castle is protected with big cannons.  Giants can pick up big explosives.
When I defeated Kaos and the Big Archean, it showed two videos.
Kaos said, “My iron fist!” because it broke off.
When I got back to his home, Glumshanks and  Kaos  went back and said, “I have 35 evil plans to take over skylands."

I love Skylanders. It is the best because of the giants.  I hope you enjoyed.

Swimming Sports

The whole school went to swimming sports yesterday at Ngaruawahia swimming pools. In the afternoon, the relays started. The adults had to face the Year Eights. The first adult was Mrs Death. At the end of the relay, the parents won. After that, all the adults and the Year Eights swam in the deep pool.
When it was the end of the day, we got free time. I was so hot that I just wanted to dive into the pool like a fish. When it was time, I dived into the pool, but I did a faceplant. I was so embarrassed. After  I got to the other side, I had to get out. When I  got changed, I saw that my face was red from the dive. Everyone laughed at my red face. When it was time to go home, there was lots of dirt like a dirty wind because it was  blowing at me. Some got in my mouth and my dad laughed. It happened at the end of the day.

Shrove Tuesday

This morning, Olivina, from Tonga, came to say thank you St Paul's Catholic School for our contributions of money.
In Tonga, they buy pigs to sell to pay school fees and to buy school books and mullberry trees. Mulberry trees are used to make tapa cloth. They cut the mulberry trees, they skin them, they dry them, they beat them with wooden clubs and they weave them into tapa cloth mats for  the floor and for the table.

The Last Fight

Last Sunday, all of the Skylanders and Kaos were angry so they went to the ultimate wheel of power and.they had last fight.
Chapter 1 The Beginning Spyro and Gill Grunt were sitting on a cliff then Kaos came.
Spyro said, "We have got to warn the Skylanders. Skylanders, Kaos is back to destroy Skylands. Let's go and teach Big Head a little lesson."
Kaos had a remote. He pushed it. The minions jumped on the Skylanders.
"NO!" said Spyro.
Kaos won by destroying the core of light.
Kaos said, "Yay! Me!"

Waitangi Day

Waitangi Day is a national holiday to celebrate when the Treaty of Waitangi was signed, and NZ became a nation.
It was signed on the 6th February, 1840. It was signed in Waitangi in the Bay of Islands. 500 Maori chiefs and representatives of the Queen signed the Treaty of Waitangi.
This year, on Waitangi Day, I went skylander hunting and I bought lunch. I had a big mince and cheese pie and I bought Swarm - he’s a bee. I bought Series 2, Chop Chop, Dragon Fire Cannon and Shrome Boom, then I bought Series 2, Zap Scorpion Striker and Hot Dog, then I ate my pie.
